Yuli Design Studio: A New Dawn in Office Interior Design

Chiung Hui Fu and Ken Lee Redefine Office Spaces with Innovative Design

The inspiration for their design came from the limitations of traditional office spaces. They observed that the long, narrow structure of most offices resulted in inadequate natural lighting, especially towards the rear of the building. This led to a desire to introduce more light and maintain a connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Their goal was to create a fun, engaging workspace that would bridge the gap between clients and designers.

What sets Yuli Design Studio apart is their innovative approach to building façade design. In Taiwan, where shop signs are abundant, the façade of a building is often obscured. To counter this, they incorporated a large area of the building façade design with a "punching plate" translucent effect. This allowed for privacy while also creating a unique lighting design that broke away from traditional open lighting concepts.

The realization of their design involved the use of various materials such as titanium coating stainless steel, punching plate (aluminum), Bianco carrara (white marble), and engineered veneer, among others. The space area of the office is 235 square meters, providing ample room for creative design and innovation.

The design team also focused on removing visual barriers caused by indoor partitions and unnecessary decorative materials. They introduced translucent glass book walls to pique the curiosity of pedestrians, moved trees indoors, and created a friendly interior design workshop that showcased their design nature at first sight.

The project, which started in January 2016 in Tainan, was completed in September 2016. The design process involved redefining the layout, introducing natural lighting, building a loft by elevating space, and altering the location of the stairs. This created a new possibility out of old limits and resulted in a unique, innovative office space.
